Life's Success Formula

Many years ago my Daoist teacher told me that to succeed in this mundane world, you only need to successfully manage two things: Time and Money.

That is all you need to master in order to succeed in life, it's true. Think about it.

Years have passed and through life's experiences, I realised that time and money management still requires another thing called Relationship management, how you relate to the people around, your family, your colleagues, your boss and your friends.

Therefore, the final formula I call it M.R.T. life's formula for success.
No, it's not refering to our Singapore train system. It stands for:

Money management
Relationship management
Time management

So if one day you come across this concept in some motivational or achievement talk, remember that I first came up with it. Hahaha...anyway, just keep this concept in your head and move towards success.

Joey Yap in Kinokuniya Singapore - Feng Shui Talk Pt 2

Hay, hay, i just returned home from Kinokuniya Bookstore for Joey Yap's talk. Pretty interesting talk. He covered on basics of activating of the Zhen Shen and Ling Shen, but he left the terminology out so the audience can just simply apply the concepts. Mountains should be located in the sectors where the 8 and 9 are located (in accordance to the Luoshu position, with the 5 in the centre). Since the two stars are wang and thus yang, the mountain will provide the yin aspect so as to achieve a balance. Similarly, the 2 (SW) and 1 (N) should have external water features to bring wealth since they are yin and water being yang will help attain the equilibrium.

He also said that feng shui is made up of 70% exterior influences and 30% interior. Having a right location can supersedes the internal flaws and vice versa. He talked abit about face reading, such as how to know a person is sincere and how to determine one's lifespan.

In Conflict with the Tai Sui

Recently, I have the opportunity to have in my hands the details of a victim in a fatal traffic accident. So, I decided to calculate her Bazhi and see the astrological cause of her death.

To my surprise, she was born in the year of the cow and is thus in indirect conflict with the Tai Sui of year 2005 (Xing Tai Sui). She met with the accident on the sixth day of the Chinese New Year (2 Feb 2006). She was the pillion rider on her boyfriend’s bike, which crashed into a car at a cross-junction. Although it was already the beginning of the new lunar year, it was actually the last day of the previous year (2005) based on the Li Chun day (Start of Spring) in the Thousand Year Calender. Thus the day of accident was the last day she is in conflict with the Tai Sui, unfortunately, she did not manage to escape even till the few final hours before the Tai Sui changes.

Teresa Teng, the famous Chinese singer in the 60s and 70s, too died from an asthma attack in the year which her zodiac sign (birth year earth branch) was in opposing conflict (Zhong Tai Sui) with the reigning Tai Sui.

In a forum i read recently, Master Joseph Yu (Canada) mentioned that this concept of Tai Sui is superstitious and not accurate. He reasons that those who studies Bazhi will know that the Chinese zodiac sign (birth year earth branch) is only 1/8 of the birth chart, thus it is too general to have any significance. Furthermore, there are so many people born into the same year and it is too silly to believe that all of them will suffer ill luck shall their birth signs be in conflict with the Tai Sui. Hmmm... I cannot deny the fact that the man is right and logical. But what about Raymond Lo? He, on the contrary, believes otherwise and takes it into consideration when doing Bazhi analysis. Who is right then? Oh well, what the hell...

A Great Quote from Lilian Too

From her book "Flying Star Feng Shui for Period 8":

"Remember that if a feng shui expert cannot help himself or herself, there is really no way he / she can help you."

Kejawen / Kebatinan Meditation

The real goal of Kejawen is to gain a true spiritual knowledge to reach true life and harmonious relation between servant and God (jumbuhing kawulo Gusti).

Javanese wise man (priyayi sepuh) gives a simple advice? Do it relaxly!

Prepare yourself, clean physically and soul, in a clean and tranquil place. It could be in your room, outside the house or in a holy place. Say your pray and good wishes to 'Gusti kang paring nugraha' to all-loving God who gives comfort, with all your good wishes and deeds, God should give you a comfortable life for you and your family.

If you are not tired, you may do spiritual exercises with your mind concentrated to God. Listen to your breath attentively, inhale, and exhale slowly for about 10 minutes. Then with a peaceful mind you go to bed, tomorrow you wake up early with fit body and clean mind, ready to work.

You do it regularly until you feel that it's not a burden for you. It's a duty, you do with pleasure. You may add the duration of your breathing exercises to 15 or 20 minutes or more but never force the ability of your body.

Consume good quality of food with less of meat, do regularly physical exercises, work well, have enough time to rest, have several minutes to pray and spiritual exercises. Thus, you should have a balance of life. You have your normal life and at the same time, you are closer to God.

Now, you are ready to develop your roso (feeling). With the same position (patrap), the most convenient position for you, you should improve the quality of breathing exercises. Previously it was 'to inhale' and 'to exhale', now:

Inhale, slowly, calmly.
Hold breathing for a certain period.
Exhale, slowly, calmly.
Focus your sight to the peak of your nose. Listen attentively to your breathing; it is a way to help you not to think of something else. Try to concentrate your mind to supreme God. Do it in a relax way for 10 minutes, 15 minutes or 30 minutes if you are not tired and you have free time. Do it gradually and never force your physical ability.

This exercises should develop your roso step by step. Together with developing roso/feeling, you should develop also your Cipta/forefront of feeling-mind. With the same position, only you focus your sight to a black spot in front of you. Make a small black or blue spot on the wall. You sit on the floor crossleg facing the wall, see/stare to black-spot without blinking your eyes for quite some time. Concentrate your cipta. Control the five senses, cipta and clear thinking directed to the black-spot. Do not think of anything else.

Do it relaxly. When your Cipta becomes more powerful, your good wishes could be realized. Meanwhile the roso should gradually becomes true roso (roso sejati). This true roso, is a divine gift, you have it, but you have to develop it. Spiritually 'True Roso' could receive messages (Sasmita) and instructions (Dawuh) which are always correct from your true life. For these exercises, you may do sometimes exercises for Cipta and the other time for roso. Once again, do it relaxly and do not force yourself, after that go outside the house to breathe fresh air as explained previously. It is an effective way to help to develop your roso.

The time is in the evening/night as stipulated above, you may start with 10 minutes for several days or weeks until you feel comfortably. If it is all right, you may go further to 20 minutes? 30 minutes? One hour.

If by practicing it, you feel good and in a better shape, it is an indication that Kejawen way of worship and meditation are suitable for you. You continue with this spiritual exercise on regular time and in the same place i.e. in your house.

You go on with this kind of exercises for 6 months or a year. You do samadi peacefully and confidently. If possible, do the breathing through your stomach. Of course, you have to do exercise first, before practising it.

When you inhale, your stomach is swollen, like a pregnant women.
Hold breathing
When you exhale, your stomach is flat, sunken.
Breathing through stomach is good for your health, and it is effective for spiritual exercise.
