The Myth about DOM

To the Chinese, drinking Benedictine DOM after giving birth is the sure way to recuperate. That's what all the mums will tell you and all the confinement ladies. But it seems to be a serious case of blind leading the blind. I have done a lot of readings, checked the label as well as scrutinize the DOM maker's website, but never was there any claim that it has any medicinal or tonic properties. In fact, many of its ingredients are spices (there are some herbs, of course) that have minimal healing properties.

According to the book, The Secrets of People Who Never Get Sick, by Gene Stone, “The herbal liqueur Benedictine D.O.M. (Deo Optimo Maximo, “To God most good, most great”), originally formulated in 1510 from twenty-seven herbs and spices, was designed to fight malaria around the Benedictine Abbey at Fécamp on the north coast of France”.

Hence, the recuperative wonder of drinking DOM is truly not as effective as it claims to be. I strongly recommend drinking Yomeishu or Huiji Waist Tonic, both of which contains traditional chinese herbs used for thousand of years with high efficacy.
