The Feng Shui of the new Cathay Building

This building used to the tallest building in Singapore during the early 40s but in 2000, the Cathay Building closed its doors for re-development. It officially re-opens its doors on 24 March this year. Only five pillars and some patterned floor mosaics remain from the old Cathay and these are incorporated into the new building.

Since it is a brand new structure and was completed after the year 2004, it is considered a Period 8 building in Feng Shui. The land that it stands upon is reputed to be an auspicious Feng Shui ground. From the Form school's perspective, the building sits with Mount Sophia behind it, providing a sense of stability and support. At its front runs the Stamford Canal which represents the element of water. The roads in front are part of the water features too. Therefore, we can say that there is the Mysterious Turtle behind it as well as the Crimson Sparrow in front. If the management have actually consulted some Feng Shui master for its construction, I would say that the master(s) is probably one who emphasize the landforms more than the Li Qi aspect. I say this because from the Li Qi perspective, the feng shui of the new building is not very good.

I did a reading of the facing of the building yesterday (I did it secretly without wanting to let people know or they may think I'm crazy, thus it may not be very accurate, I will try to do a reading again when I'm there the next time). The building faces 167.5 degrees, meaning that it is a Bing facing, Ren Sitting structure丙向壬坐. Drawing out the Flying Stars chart, I found out that it is a Double Stars At the Sitting Palace双星到坐. The main entrance of Cathay is located in the palace where the 9 Mountain Star and 7 Water Star is. From the landform analysis above, we know that the auspicious 9 mountain star has gone down the water 山里龙神不下水. As a result, the health and relationship aspects of its residents may not be good after the year 2024. But the SMU building across the cross junction may help alleviate this problem by acting as a distant mountain. With the external water forms and human traffic in this sector, the 7 water star is greatly activated and may mean the loss of money.

For the current period, the health and relationships of the residents and the office tenants will be very beneficial since the reigning 8 mountain star is supported by Mount Sophia behind, a real hilly formation. As for businesswise, the management may find it very trying during this period (which last till the year 2024), this is because the powerful 8 water dragon is lost in the mountain. The business may survive but it is not going to make a windfall.
